"Sometimes there are long album creations that you are Spungingling to create an easy listening album of everything. This is one of those times, as the album contains many popular songs from many artists. Yes, even Johnny & Jags are to blame, as they've been making the Spunginglings cringe the entire time. The music is silly, corny, sometimes vulgar, and full of a haughty tone. Despite the sins, the music is decent enough to be considered a good entry into the genre, but don't expect to start your own band of spunginglings anytime soon. Jonni Moronnis brings this debut to the ears of fans with Spunginglings, which he describes as a "Spungingles Spunging-style of hilarious, childish, completely bad taste, profane, adult-themed comedy musical rock..."
-John Peel

Pitchfork:
Album Review: Spungingles - "The White Album"

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆

In the realm of experimental music, there are those who push the boundaries and break new ground, and then there are those who wander so far off the beaten path that they seem to have lost their way entirely. "The White Album" by Jonnis Moronnis and Jaggles Moronnis, under the moniker Spungingles, sadly falls into the latter category.

This bewildering concoction of soundscapes offers little more than a cacophonous mishmash of disjointed ideas that leave listeners scratching their heads in utter bewilderment. From start to finish, it's an exercise in sonic chaos that hardly qualifies as music.

The album kicks off with "Five Tet (VIP Mix) [Original Mix] - 12" Edit by Spungingles," a title that hints at the confusion awaiting the audience. It's an auditory assault, with no discernible structure or melody. The duo's idea of experimentation seems to involve throwing every possible sound at the wall and hoping something sticks. It doesn't.

"Makin' My Way Back In The Spungingles" doesn't fare much better, offering an equally disjointed experience. The lack of cohesion and any semblance of musicality continues throughout the record, making it impossible to engage with on any level.

"Cockin' With My Rock! (Do That On A Bitch)" showcases the album's lyrical content, which is as crass and bewildering as its sonic landscape. The album's attempt at edginess comes across as juvenile and tiresome, lacking any depth or thought-provoking substance.

Tracks like "The Soothing Fungus Manthem & The Bad Case Of The Woogles That Occupy A Small Mystical Forrest That Happens To Be Nearby Boston, Massachusetts!" take a self-indulgent dive into the abyss of indulgence, clocking in at an excruciating one hour and twenty-four minutes. It's a relentless assault on the listener's patience and offers nothing in return but frustration.

Even the shorter tracks, like "The Whitest Track" and "I think granola is really Nice," fail to find any redeeming qualities. They come across as mere filler, adding to the overall sense of aimlessness that permeates the album.

Spungingles's attempts at extended compositions, such as "My Aunt Gino (Part 1, Remastered 2006), (Part 2, Remastered 1997), (Part 3, Remastered 2010), (Part 4, Remastered 1993) / The Cold War: A Dirge of Leafless Lives (Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7)," come off as a tedious exercise in excess. There's no discernible reason for such extended durations, other than perhaps to test the listener's endurance.

As if to add insult to injury, the album includes tracks like "My sample Pack! (a demo, not a song) [Extended mix]," which further highlights the lack of artistic direction or purpose. This, along with the closing tracks, does little to rescue what is an otherwise abysmal listening experience.

"The White Album" is a frustrating and grating exercise in experimental music that seems to prioritize chaos over creativity. It's a project that tests the limits of patience and offers little in return but a headache. Jonnis Moronnis and Jaggles Moronnis may have embarked on an artistic journey, but it's one that leaves listeners lost and bewildered in the sonic wilderness. This is an album best left unexplored.
-Positive review from Pitchfork

"In the summer of 1968, Jonnis Moronnis and Jaggles Moraggles of Spungingles found themselves in the heart of the swinging 60s, sharing a vibrant moment with the legendary John Lennon. The scene is set in a cozy, dimly lit room with shag carpeting, tie-dye tapestries, and an aura of creative inspiration.

Jonnis Moronnis, with his long, wavy hair and colorful attire, sits cross-legged on a bean bag chair, strumming an acoustic guitar, a thoughtful smile on his face. His fingers dance across the strings, producing a melodic tune that captures the spirit of the era.

Jaggles Moraggles, sporting round Lennon-esque sunglasses and a headband, sits nearby, enthusiastically discussing music and the art of experimentation with John Lennon. The room is filled with the scent of incense, and there's an unmistakable atmosphere of free-spirited creativity in the air.

John Lennon, with his iconic round glasses and disheveled hair, leans against a wall covered in posters of the era's iconic figures. He's engaged in a lively conversation with Jonnis and Jaggles, sharing insights about the music industry and the power of pushing artistic boundaries.

The moment captures the essence of the late 60s, where music and art were evolving, and creative minds like Jonnis Moronnis, Jaggles Moraggles, and John Lennon were at the forefront of a cultural revolution, changing the world with their innovative and boundary-pushing approaches to music."
